Last May I was fortunate enough to photograph four wonderful weddings! They were all so unique & touching – each one capturing the essence and style of each couple’s individual personalities and loving relationship. This amazing couple shared their love in an intimate and touching ceremony in Annapolis, MD. Meghan’s gorgeous lace gown and the brightly colored bouquets enhanced the beautiful setting of the historic William Paca House & Garden. Patrick looked dapper in his tux with a simple calla lily boutonniere and a sparkling smile to match his bride’s. They had a unique Parisian theme, complete with mini lavender bouquets and an elegant harpist. I had so much fun capturing their special day – congratulations Meghan and Patrick!!

James and Meghan are such an incredibly kind and sweet couple, and their wedding was a blast to photograph! The day was filled with laughter, smiles, and fun little details, as they celebrated with their friends and family at the Musket Ridge Golf Club in Maryland. From knit birds for her bridesmaids, to the delicious pies at the reception, this wedding had many personal touches, and reflected this couple’s unique creativity. They were especially excited about having a lot of interesting photos, so it was a ton of fun for me to play and get creative with the camera! Steve and Kelly have been clients of mine since the start of my business exactly 3 years ago October 1st. I photographed Kelly’s Birthday party, their beautiful back yard wedding and now I am excited to share their maternity photos! I met them at home one warm afternoon in August where we had a lot of fun sharing in the excitement of expecting their little guy and photographing her 7 1/2 month pregnant belly. Enjoy!

July was a HOT month this year all over the country which made a lot of outdoor weddings move indoors. That is what happened this beautiful summer day with Courtney & Evan. Not only was it hot with the threat of thunderstorms, but it was so muggy the second you stepped outside, you would immediately start perspiring! Fortunately Courtney, Evan and their family and friends were great sports, allowing me to take them outside for some beautiful photographs before the indoor events! I have to say, it was well worth it as we captured some beautiful light and moments through out the day! Thank you guys!

The moving of the ceremony indoors certainly didn’t spoil the joyful mood among the guests and bridal party. As Courtney and Evan tied the knot under the most gorgeous hand painted chuppah I have ever seen, there was the sound of laughter and a few sentimental tears being shed.

The reception was gorgeous with high table centerpieces, a beautiful cake, thoughtful genuine toasts and some fun dancing. Among the many fabulous details Courtney and Evan threw together for the big day, were small stones at each table they asked the guests to write on with well wishes and words of advice for the couple to take with them. What a unique touch! It was such a pleasure to photograph these two, their families, and their friends. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!

The day began with an auspicious find: a four-leaf clover. And in this little vineyard love story, nothing could go wrong. Wedding photographers dream of those days that dawn with a mix of sun and clouds, a little drama in the sky and a sweeping breeze to ruffle dress layers and loose strands of hair. And on the ground at Running Hare Vineyard, this couple set me up for success.

I met Danny while we were both studying photography in Georgetown and to this day, I maintain he is one of the funniest guys I know. He met his match in high school, a strawberry-blond ball of fun named Kristi. To give you an idea of their effortlessly cool quirkiness: we shot their engagement photos around the premise of them serving as sweet and humorous table number displays. And on May 20, they brought together their jovial group of friends for a fanciful country affair, rife with mirth.

Kristi put her hair up in braids and carried a wildflower bouquet wrapped in lace, pinned with personal charms and broaches. Danny carried a timepiece and his new found piece of good-luck greenery. The bride’s dress flowed with draping layers of chiffon down to a satin pair of something-blues. And the party’s blend of eggplant, violet and gingham gave it all a purple punch. We spent a couple hours running through the vineyard rows, striking poses and cracking jokes. The wedding took place under a wooden archway on the grassy lawn. And, after exchanging vows, the party moved inside for dancing and a cake almost too pretty to cut. The reception really hit its high point when lyric sheets circled the room and Danny’s father led a rollicking rendition of “Danny Boy.”

When it was all said and done, Kristi slipped on a pair of Toms and a cardigan to guard against the evening chill. Because better late than never, another token of married fortune charmed their departure: wedding day rain.

It’s always wonderful to reconnect with someone you knew long ago and especially for a party like this. Rachel and I went to high school together and our paths crossed again when she invited me to photograph her wedding. She picked a perfectly quaint B&B on the Chesapeake Bay called: The Oaks Waterfront Inn. They hosted their rehearsal dinner over the water on a long, covered pier and guests dined on crab and strawberry shortcake. And that meal perfectly represents the place: country romance meets the Eastern Seaboard.

Rachel’s wedding day look was a flawless match to the surroundings. She donned a gorgeous beaded gown with a plunging back and the bridesmaids wore a rich jewel tone that provided the perfect pop against the weathered barns and partially clouded skies. Ivory roses and light pink peonies softened the scheme. You can tell she’s got an eye for the details-down to that rustic rope wrap on the bouquet.

The couple exchanged vows against the water and then invited guests inside for a rich spread, including a deluxe dessert table. The whole day was such a pleasure to document…I love the sweet smiles and the utter elegance that comes through in the photos. To the happy couple: thanks for letting me be part of this stunning day!

This wedding brought me back to my naturalist days as a snowshoe guide in Vail, partly because it was out in the woods in Thurmont, Maryland, and partly because it was bitterly cold. Poor Bernadette and Joel had planned to get married outside at Thorpwood and have the reception in an unheated barn, but it was so cold that we ended up having the ceremony in the barn and a very cozy reception in the main cabin, with a fire going and all. Good thing, too, because when I met up with Joel and his groomsmen to take some getting ready shots and portraits, we encountered some snow flurries, believe it or not. Regardless of the weather, spirits were high and Bernadette and Joel had a beautiful and intimate wedding day with wonderful family and friends. Everyone celebrated with some heartfelt toasts and a really really delicious pre-thanksgiving fried turkey buffet.

The day started with portraits of Joel and his groomsmen, and then of Bernadette and her bridesmaids. We then went to the barn for a beautiful ceremony. They even provided gloves with the program. Afterwards, while the guests enjoyed wine, beer, and cheese, we stayed out in the bitter cold taking pictures. We had some real troopers in that bridal party and ended up with some great photos. The main lodge offered the warmth we needed, where they had a wonderful reception, featuring a giant fireplace, delicious buffet with fried turkey, toasts, caramel apples as gifts, and lots of fun dancing. It’s always a good party when people pull out their awesome dance moves! I was also pleased to see the engagement session look book as a guest book.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bernadette and Joel earlier this year for their Georgetown engagement session, and after spending a couple hours with them walking around the town, I knew we were going to have a great time at their wedding. I loved working with Bernadette and Joel; it was a wonderful way to end the wedding season!
