I had a fantastic time back in January in Minnesota, where I traveled to capture this special day for Ian, an old friend of mine from college. You might remember their engagement session from June of last year in Colorado. It was great to be back in the Minneapolis area, where I’ve been several times for weddings in the summer, but, as to be expected in January, it was so so so cold! I don’t know how all you northern mid-westerners do it! The awesome Bridal party was brave enough to venture into the snow with me to make some amazingly elegant and classy outdoor photos. I have to admit- living in DC we don’t get much snow, so it was exiting for me to have the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful winter landscape. And I certainly have to thank my subjects for letting me put them out there in that cold! It was definitely worth it!
We started the day getting ready at Kristine’s parent’s house outside of Minneapolis, where, after having hair and make up done with her bridesmaids and friends, she slipped into her wedding gown and beautiful purple Manolos. We grabbed some great shots out there at the house with the beautiful winter light bouncing off the snow, before heading off to the church for the ceremony. Meanwhile Ian was prepping with his guys at the hotel in Minneapolis.
There was excitement in the air as guests and loved ones began arriving at the church for the touching, personal ceremony. After the vows the happy couple sped off in style in a vintage Mustang GT!
While guests were shuttling over to the Windows on Minneapolis for the cocktail hour and reception and the light was slipping away, I had some time with the bridal party to capture some sweet shots of the couple and bridal party at a nearby park and later, at the stone arch bridge that offers quite a view of the city. The elegant reception was more than complete with touching toasts, a live band and lots of fun dancing! I am so honored I was able to be there to witness and capture this couple’s stunning, special day. Congratulations Kristine and Ian!!!
