Sheida & Kevin had a Persian/Christian wedding and it was the MOST high energy, fun dancing wedding I have been to so far- and I have been to a LOT of them!! There were tons of fun traditions and sweet symbolic gestures that were incorporated into the entire day! The day began in the early afternoon with some portraits and getting ready shots. Then the very cool ceremony commenced. The bride and groom sat facing their guests and in front of a table of offerings called the Sofre Aghd. There were a bunch of cool traditions- among them being that through the ceremony the bridesmaids held a silk/satin cloth over the bride and groom as different women (guests) came up and rubbed two large sugar blocks together over the sheet- it symbolizes- as the officiant stated- that life and marriage is hard but sweet. They also had a honey kiss where the bride and groom dipped their pinkie finger into a glass of honey and gave the other’s honey dipped pinkie a kiss.
The reception began with a bang! Everyone was dancing their little hearts out- the pictures give you a good idea of how much fun everyone was having. There was a knife dance for the cake cutting, Irish step dancers- who were representing Polish clog dancers to represent the groom’s Polish heritage, a money/ flower toss, the polish apron dance, and of course the bouquet and garter toss. All this was surrounded by constant high energy fun dancing with fabulous music and lots of laughter! Enjoy!
